Assistant Editor/ Graphics
At one time Leola believed her professional future lay in the field of international development. However, after receiving a master’s in international affairs she realized her passion lay elsewhere. Wanting something that would combine her concerns for social issues with her love of visual storytelling, Leola enrolled in film school while living in South Africa. Joining Rock Creek Productions in 2007, Leola brings a unique background, a true dedication to the craft of editing, and a keen sense of storytelling to all of her projects.
Favorite school memory:
I remember being ten years old and staying up until midnight working on a creative writing assignment -- a silly story about a summer camp and a ghost. A few days later I was one of the students selected to read theirs out loud to the class. I had that weird mixture of emotion that shy people get when forced into public attention – mortification, excitement, embarrassment, pride. But really, I was just mortified. I refused to look up as I read but midway through the story, I braved a peek at my audience. And I had them, waiting to see how the adventure was going to end. At that point I realized the power of a good story. for packing a 10 year olds lunch, she did it anyways, and I was so proud to have a “green” lunch to show my "green" teacher every day.
